MBBS, also known as Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, has been one of the prestigious programmes among medical courses across the globe since generations. Despite its reputation, MBBS is the most challenging course in higher education. MBBS aims to give an academic understanding of concepts such as human anatomy, chemistry, medicine, drugs formulation and effect, pharmaceutical experience and method of surgery through practical and theoretical experiences. In India, MBBS is the most sought-after course and lakhs of students compete in MBBS admissions in India, every year. However, the MBBS seats in India are limited and the students face a tough competition to get admission. In this article, shikshamitraa has come up with all the details pertaining to the MBBS course, MBBS admissions in India, the fee structure of the MBBS course, specialisations, and syllabus of the MBBS course etc.

Before jumping into the MBBS admission process in India, it is advisable to know all about the MBBS course duration. The duration of MBBS course is 5 ½ years including a rotating internship of one year. The internship is mandatory, and one can complete the course only by completing an internship. The duration of MBBS academic course is 4 ½ years that comprises of nine semesters. MCI (Medical Council of India) is the only accreditation body in India for MBBS course. Medical Council of India is responsible for structuring/ revamping the MBBS course in India.

MBBS admissions in India for the academic session 2023 will start after the NEET 2023 exam date is announced.MBBS admission process is purely based on entrance test, and direct admission to MBBS course is not possible without entrance exam score. Therefore, MBBS aspirants must clear the MBBS entrance exam to secure admission.
