University College of Medical Sciences New Delhi

College Description

University College of Medical Science, New Delhi

is one of the best medical institutes in the country. It was founded in 1971 as a Constituent College of the University of Delhi, thanks to the efforts of Delhi's Health Minister, because many students were left out and denied the opportunity to study medicine due to a lack of medical colleges in the city. UCMS began on the North Campus of Delhi University, then moved to Safdarjung Hospital in South Delhi, and then to its current home in Dilshad Garden in 1986, where it is connected with Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, which serves as its teaching hospital. UCMS has a wealth of expertise and has earned several accolades at the national and international levels for its research and associated activities. In addition, UCMS was the first medical college in India to establish the Medical Humanities Group, and in 2011, it hosted India's first "oppressed theatre" workshop for medical students. In the immediate neighbourhood of the East Delhi community, the college provides medical, emergency, and health care services. UCMS is one of Delhi's three community trauma centers, as well as a major AIDS facility and Safdarjung hospital. It was once part of the National Brain Research Center network. The Medical Council of India has authorized the University College of Medical Science, which is associated with Delhi University (Central) (MCI).
