Santhiram General Hospital, a teaching hospital with 650 beds, opened in 2004. Various medical and surgical departments are responsible for them. General Medicine has 130 beds. There are 60 beds in Pediatrics, 60 beds in Dermatology, and 60 beds in Leprosy. The Surgery and Allied Specialties department has 290 beds, while the Obstetrics and Gynecology department has 90 beds. Each of the two units, Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases and Psychiatry, has 30 beds. Inpatients are housed in around 575 beds. This Hospital Casualty service is staffed in three shifts by four doctors and 22 nurses. In the casualty department, there are 25 beds and two emergency theatres with all kinds of equipment, as well as four ambulances for emergency situations.
