The Amritsar Medical College & Hospital is a 163-acre campus containing academic zones, air conditioning, a canteen, a hospital, a library, medical facilities, class rooms, a residential institute, and a residential zone. The college has a total built-up area of 66000 square metres. In the year 2012, a 9-story hospital complex (with a total built-up area of 30000 square metres) was built and attached to the college, consisting of the Bebe Nanki Mother & Child Care Centre and the Guru Teg Bahadur Diagnostic & Superspeciality, which is partially funded by the Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). In addition, the college has two independent complexes: the College of Nursing and the Swami Vivekananda Drug De-addiction Centre.
GMC Amritsar features highly-experienced 238 doctors as professors, associate professors, and assistant professors for all departments, as well as 655 faculty members as senior residents, junior residents, and other staff for the whole department.
The library is housed in a three-story structure with a total built-up area of and is located on the main college campus. GMC Amritsar features three hostel complexes with the names A, B, and C, the first two of which were established in 1929. The total size of the hostel and residential complex is 19000 square metres.
