is a prestigious government institution that was founded in 1957. Dr. B. Ramakrishna Rao, the then Governor of Kerala, placed the college's foundation stone on May 29, 1957. Dr. A. R. Menon, the then Minister of Health of Kerala, officially launched the College on August 5, 1957, which is his day and the zeal that led to the construction of this school. The first headmaster, Drs. K. N. Pisharoty, was in charge of organising the college. The institution was founded with the goal of becoming the country's premier medical college, producing socially responsible medical graduates. The National Medical Committee has recognised this medical college, which is connected with the Kerala University of Health Sciences in Thrissur and Calicut University (NMC).

This Government Medical College in Kozhikode (Calicut Medical College) is a prestigious medical school in the Kerala city of Kozhikode. This university's campus and hospital cover a total of 270 acres and are surrounded by gorgeous environment. A course complex, geriatric building, women's dormitory, small residential flats, and smart apartment are all part of the Institution's basic infrastructure. Computer services are available in almost every department and office of the medical library, college, and hospital. The GMC Kozhikode Library is a 4000 square metre structure. For each of these pupils, the college has a 250-seat indoor and outdoor classroom. In the 50-seat library, there is also a staff reading area. The GMC library includes a fantastic collection of 50000 volumes, as well as 9 Indian and 15 international publications. It also features 25 PCs that can connect to the internet. The College has a central picture booth with well-trained employees and well-equipped equipment.
Later additions to the institution included the campus Super Specialty Complex Hospital with CT Scan, MRI Scan, Artificial Joint Center, Accident Emergency Services Complex, Samraksha Kendram, and Visrama Kendram. The hospital currently has 3025 licenced beds, making it India's largest hospital in terms of bed capacity.
The 1183-bed Kozhikode Medical College Hospital was founded in 1966. The Maternity and Child Health Institute, which had 610 beds, the Savitri Devi Sabu Memorial Cancer Institute, which had 101 beds, and the Chest Diseases Institute joined it in 1975. The bed's current capacity is 3025. MCH received 1510 beds, IMCH received 1100 beds, SSP received 240 beds, ICT received 100 beds, Sports Medicine received 15 beds, and the New Psychiatry Block received Hemato-4 beds.

Calicut Medical College is the name of the Government Medical College in Kozhikode. Kozhikode is the second largest urban agglomeration in Kerala and the 20th largest in the country, as well as one of the state's most important economic hubs.
