is a prominent government medical college that was founded in 1962 under Shri. Vasantro Patel’s guidance (formerly M.L.A.) With the construction of a State Medical College south of Maharashtra, the Interim Medical College committee was founded in Sangli. This has been related to the administration of Wanless Hospital, a private Christian hospital in Miraj that has been contracted to serve as a teaching hospital for the new Government medical institution. To prepare graduates and graduates who succeed in their disciplines and are dedicated to serve the community by delivering high-quality care and economical health-care services. To educate compassionate doctors and improve people's and society's quality of life. This government medical college is affiliated with Maharashtra University Health Sciences, and approved by Medical Council of India.

Students seeking admission to this college must be 17 years old by December 31st of the admission year. Students with a minimum of 50 percent in science subjects, including biology or biotechnology, as well as physics and chemistry, are eligible (in the case of SC/ST students, 40 percent in board examinations; 45 percent for OBC students). Admission Eligibility:

If you want to get an MBBS, you must take the National Qualification and Entry Examination (NEET) administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) after you finish grade 12. All government, private, intermediate, and tertiary universities will be based on NEET schools, and seats will be granted on an advising basis based on merit results/standards, college preferences, and available seats.

Infrastructure:

The picturesque city of Miraj, Maharashtra, is home to a government medical college. Miraj State Medical College is situated on 34.3 hectares of land. The Department of Physiology and Anatomy's blocks have been in operation since June 1964, when they were established on the vacant border of Miraj. Para-clinical departments were then housed in a historic structure with two laboratory rooms and a lecture hall. The Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, Pathology, and Pharmacology constructed its premises in 1969. The modern Microbiology and Biochemistry departments (previously the Canteen and College Office) were established in 1972. The elder boys' and staff's quarters were then constructed. It was erected in a hurry in 1982, including a Library, Hostel Ladies, New Boys' Hostel, and various staff apartments. Miraj Medical College has a fully equipped hall that is utilized to host student activities and events. Students, employees, and instructors at the Miraj Government Medical Institute can use the institute's transportation services to get around the city. 

Library Facilities:

The library of Miraj State Medical College is state-of-the-art. This was built in 1982 as part of a crash programme that included sleeping quarters. It contains a student library with a variety of literature and reference materials. This cutting-edge medical institution includes well-stocked classroom furniture that divides classes from students, employees, and academics. Over 250 books and other journals are available in this library, which is organized into sections for each department. GMC Miraj has E-Library materials, as well as the required equipment and other resources, such as a computer, a laptop, and an LCD projector.

The Governor's Hospital has 380 beds. All medical and Para-clinical departments, as well as O.T., are well equipped at both hospitals. Complications State Medical College and Hospital, Miraj, and PVP Government Hospital, Sangli, are the two places in which Miraj State Medical College and Departments are split. Departments of I.C.U. and C.C.U. of 8 beds were established in 1995 at P.V.P.G.H.Sangli, and in 2006 at G.M.C.H.Miraj. Adults and children with a mental disorder who are completely involved in clinical treatment can get outpatient and outpatient care at the GMC Department of Psychiatry and Miraj Hospital. Undergraduate medical students, as well as nursing students, can get training, research, and community service. Except for Sundays and holidays, OPD services are available at GMC Miraj Hospital and PVP General Hospital Sangli. On a daily basis, about 250 outpatients attend these two hospitals. Radiofrequency, Skin biopsy, Cryosurgery, Chemical cauterization, and Vitiligo surgery are all available at the Skin and VD department, which has 15 beds. Since 1978, the Rural Health and Training Center has serviced a broad segment of the population as part of Miraj Medical College's relationship with the Tasgaon Municipal Council, which is 25 kilometres outside the city.

How to reach us:

The distance between GMC Miraj and Miraj Bus Stand is 2.4 kilometres and takes 10 minutes to go via NH160 and Mahatma Gandhi Road. We may walk 2.5 kilometres from this medical institution to the Miraj railway station on the Sangli-Salmalgewadi route in 10 minutes. Kolhapur Airfield, located 40 kilometres from Miraj Medical College and accessible by the Kolhapur - Sangli Highway and Kunkeshwar - Talewadi Road, is a small airport near the Medical College. The college is 350 kilometres from Mumbai International Airport.
