The college was founded in Aurangabad, the capital of Marathwada, a historic city. With only 50 pupils, the centre began in the Nizam Bungalow historic site in a unique suburb of the city. Government Medical College is located in Maharashtra's beautiful city of Aurangabad. The College has 30 buildings spread out across a total of 99 hectares, with a total area of 40 hectares.
