Dr. Somervel Memorial College, Thiruvananthapuram

was founded in 2002 and is a famous private medical college. This medical college is affiliated with Dr. Somervell Memorial Mission Hospital, which is located in Karakonam, a village on the southern outskirts of Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram District. The South Kerala diocese of the Church of South India (SIUC) owns the hospital, medical college, and all other related facilities, which are maintained by the South Kerala Medical Mission. This medical college comes with an ambition to provide best medical education to students, expose them to renowned national and international faculty, motivate them for research and make them competent clinicians who can meet the challenge of treatment in the remotest village of India as well as the most advanced hospital anywhere in the world. This medical college is affiliated with Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur and is approved by the National Medical Committee (NMC).

Admission Eligibility

Students seeking admission to this college must be 17 years old by December 31st of the admission year. Students with a minimum of 50 percent in science subjects, including biology or biotechnology, as well as Physics and Chemistry, are eligible (in the case of SC/ST students, 40 percent in board examinations; 45 percent for OBC students). It is also mandatory for students to take the National Eligibility and Entrance Examination (NEET) .

The Hospital of the campus was established in 2002. It is one of the first four private Medical Colleges of Kerala owned by the South Kerala Medical Mission (SKMM) of the South Kerala Diocese (SKD) which is one of the 22 dioceses of the church of South India (CSI). Dr.Somervell Medical College Hospital is located on an area of ​​50062 sq.mt and. Drs. Somervell Memorial CSI Medical College and Hospital was established in 2002. It is one of the first four Kerala Medical Colleges run by the South Kerala Medical Mission of the South Kerala Diocese. DR Somervell Hospital has 662 patient beds. According to a trial report 900 outgoing patients arrive at the hospital. The Drs. Somervell Memorial CSI Medical College is in Karakonam, Kerala, in the Trivandrum district. Karakonam is around 30 kilometres south of Trivandrum's central station, on the border of the Vellarada route between Trivandrum and Parassala. The road from Trivandrum to Karakonam via Vellarada is typically travelled by Parassala State Transport buses and private vehicles. The College is 35 kilometres from the Trivandrum Central bus station, which takes an hour to reach. The college is only three kilometres from the Dhanuva chapuram railway station, which connects Trivandrum Central and Nagercoil. The nearest airport is Trivandrum International Airport, which is 33 kilometres away and takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to go via NH66.
