About Hospital:

The AFMC hospital was founded in 1869, and it was one of three military hospitals built in the same year in and near Poona. Originally known as the British Military Hospital, Wanowrie, the three 100-bed hospitals were used to treat British garrison personnel injured during World Wars I and II. This Hospital today occupies six enormous buildings known as the Connaught Barracks, the first of which was occupied by the Malignant Diseases Treatment Centre, which was built as an award for Military Hospital, Wanowrie, in 1869. On December 1, 1947, these hospitals were merged into a single facility. On April 8, 1967, this hospital was renamed Command Hospital, and it is the Indian Army's largest hospital, covering 105 acres of land. During natural disasters such as earthquakes in Latur and Bhuj, floods in Sangli, and the Tsunami in Southern India, this has offered medical assistance. There are around 2,750 outpatients who come here.
